NEW DODGE LOUNGE - 8850 Joseph Campau, Hamtramck
A small group showed for this Friday edition of HAMBURGER DAY at the New Dodge Lounge. It was myself, Freon, John Paul, and of course, Michael who suggested the place. A nice old style bar that obviously is more geared to having bands as there are only a handfull of small tables and the floor is mostly open, with a small stage at one end.
The burgers were good though. Bacon made to order with mine. Also, no pre-prepped patties. You order and they get their ground beef out of the fridge, put on a pair of plastic mitts and make the patty right there (BIG patties I want to add), and cookit right in front of you. No hiding in the kitchen. Allthe usual topping are available as well. Nothing fancy, but not dissapointing.
If I had any issue, the burger was a bit dense and probably needs a few minutes to rest before serving. My bun wasgetting a tad wet with juice, but not too bad. I would definately go back. A very worthwhile trip and a nice way to end the last HAMBURGER DAY of 2011.
Must've been good--anything that causes you to misspell the word "BACON" must have derailed your thought processes! :-) Actually, though, there's much more to the place than just that front bar area--aside from the pool tables in back, the upstairs area has plenty more chairs and whole EXTRA STAGE that I've seen taken advantage of, with modelling and sketching events upstairs and bands downstairs. If the owner, Councilperson Cathy Gordon is around, she's always happy to tell you about the ins and outs of her place, as well as those of all Hamtramck.
